Pancho

Photo coming soon

Porteños call it 'pancho' after a cartoon hound once used to advertise hot dogs in Argentina — the nickname outlasted the ad campaign itself.

A long, thin sausage in a soft bun, topped with mustard, mayonnaise, or crushed potato chips, sold from mobile carts ('carritos') parked on Buenos Aires street corners late into the night. It's the city's classic post-bar, cheap-and-fast street bite.

Why it's made this way: The carrito hot-dog stand is a specifically porteño late-night institution, clustered around Buenos Aires nightlife zones in a way not replicated the same way elsewhere in Argentina.
