Austria's favorite street sausage is named after Bosnia — even though it was invented by a Bulgarian grill cook in Salzburg.

A grilled bratwurst-style sausage tucked into a long white roll with onions, parsley, ketchup, mustard, and a dusting of curry powder. Sold from walk-up grill stands.

Why it's made this way: Invented around 1949 by a Bulgarian immigrant grill cook in Salzburg, whose original dish name locals couldn't pronounce — so they renamed it after the nearby Balkans, and it stuck as an Austrian street-food staple.
