Ningxia's goji berries are considered so superior that they're sold as a distinct regional grade, separate from goji grown anywhere else in China.
Ningxia's goji berry juice is a tart, deep-red drink pressed from the region's famous wolfberries, sold at roadside stalls near Zhongning's berry fields alongside dried goji snacks. It's often mixed with a bit of sugar or paired with local dishes believed to complement its warming properties in traditional medicine.
Why it's made this way: Ningxia's arid climate and mineral-rich soil along the Yellow River produce goji berries considered the gold standard in China, making the region's identity inseparable from the fruit.
