Despite the Czech Republic's beer-first reputation, nearly all of its wine — 96 percent — comes from vineyards in this one southern region.
South Moravia's rolling vineyard hills around Znojmo, Mikulov and Velké Pavlovice produce mostly crisp white wines, sipped in the region's traditional half-underground wine cellars. Local wine festivals and cellar tours are a defining part of Moravian village life.
