Açaí bowls arrived in Pedro Juan Caballero as a straightforward crossover from Brazil's açaí craze, and the city now has kiosks selling them across its commercial center.
Frozen, blended açaí pulp is topped with granola, banana, and condensed milk, scooped into cups at kiosks throughout Pedro Juan Caballero. It's a popular cold snack even outside Brazil's usual reach.
Why it's made this way: The bowl's spread into Amambay is a direct effect of Pedro Juan Caballero's tight cross-border relationship with Brazil's Ponta Porã.
