Pedro Juan Caballero and its Brazilian twin, Ponta Porã, are divided only by a single avenue, so this Brazilian snack is sold on both sides of the street by vendors who cross back and forth.

Small balls of tapioca-starch cheese bread are baked fresh and sold hot from bakery counters and street carts across Pedro Juan Caballero. Locals grab a bag on the way to work, still warm.

Why it's made this way: Amambay's Pedro Juan Caballero sits directly against the Brazilian border, and its deep everyday exchange with Ponta Porã keeps Brazilian street food staples like this one in constant supply.
