Krynica-Zdrój's most prized water, Zuber, is so intensely mineralized that it's treated more like medicine than a beverage — locals sip it in small doses at the town's ornate spa pump rooms.
Kryniczanka is a naturally carbonated mineral water piped straight from more than twenty springs beneath the Carpathian spa town of Krynica-Zdrój, traditionally drunk warm from tin cups at pump-room fountains. It ranges from lightly sparkling table water to the fiercely mineral, faintly sulphurous Zuber, sipped as a digestive tonic.
Why it's made this way: Małopolska's Beskid foothills sit on some of Europe's richest mineral springs, and Krynica-Zdrój grew up entirely around the 19th-century ritual of communal 'water drinking cures,' a tradition Poles from the region still practice today.
