It predates soda by centuries — a lightly sweetened berry water Russians have been drinking since medieval times.
Mors is a traditional Russian drink made by boiling or steeping berries, most often cranberries or lingonberries, then straining the juice and sweetening it lightly. It's sold chilled from jars and dispensers at markets and street kiosks, and made at home as a natural alternative to soda.
Why it's made this way: With roots going back centuries in Russian peasant kitchens, mors remains a genuinely everyday drink, valued as both a refreshment and a folk cold remedy.
