Surveys have found that roughly 98% of Carinthians recognize the brand — a local-loyalty figure almost unheard of anywhere else in Austrian brewing.

Villacher is a clean, easy-drinking Austrian lager brewed in the southern city of Villach, ranging from the standard Märzen-style lager to seasonal specialty beers. It's the default order in Carinthian Gasthäuser and at the region's lake-side beer gardens.

Why it's made this way: Brewed in Villach since 1858 and still run by the Vereinigte Kärntner Brauereien, it's considered Carinthia's own beer in a country where every province backs a hometown brewery.
