Its name literally translates to 'tastes good to me,' a name so plainly enthusiastic it doubles as its own review.
Bienmesabe is a thick, sweet paste of ground almonds, sugar, egg yolks, and honey, often spooned over ice cream or eaten alone with a spoon. Canarian markets and bakeries sell it in small cups or jars.
Why it's made this way: Almonds have long grown well on the volcanic islands, and combining them with honey turned a simple pantry mix into a beloved island dessert.
