It's savory, not sweet — a tangy, mustard-spiked yogurt drink built specifically to cut through the richness of a heavy biryani.

Borhani is a sour yogurt drink blended with mustard seed, green chili, black salt, roasted cumin, and mint or coriander, served icy cold. It's poured alongside kacchi biryani and other rich feast dishes at weddings and celebrations across Dhaka and Chittagong.

Why it's made this way: It's considered the essential digestif to a proper Bengali biryani spread, a pairing so traditional many households consider one incomplete without the other.
